Kenneth Jay Lane at La Grenouille and NEW SITE!

We have moved!  We are now a page on the new website at www.emilythompsonflowers.com.  The blog url, rss and other blog features will have to wait, as we have some hosting issues to work out, but please tune in for news over there...

Our majestic mossy knoll scene for the event at La Grenouille celebrating "Fake Jewels, Real Glamour", vintage pieces from Kenneth Lay Lane.  The whole event was hosted by Yoox.com.  For more about this, check out our feature in the NYTimes!

Website Construction Alert!

We are having a bit of a hosting snafu over at emilythompsonflowers.com at the moment but should be back up and running by the end of the day (and new and improved, I might add).  Please contact emily@emilythompsonflowers.com in the meantime.

In the meantime, here are some treats I brought back from California last weekend.  Artichoke foliage!  A massive invasion of wire vine!

ACE Hotel.

Flowers and decor for a party at the ACE Hotel earlier this month, with bands from Elan Artists.   100 Layer Cake co-sponsored the party and worked on styling with us as well. Props like the toy truck below came from our friends at Modern Anthology.
Wild spirea, thistle, andromeda, jasmine and more.

For Jean

The most wonderful dutch tulips, called "Leo."  Grevillea foliage, my favorite.  Kumquats.  A giant taffeta ribbon. This is for a glamorous woman.
 Diana models.

For the court, Japanese narcissus, camellia foliage, fritillaria, and a "flame" french tulip.

The other Emily...

I am terribly late in mentioning this wonderful thing, maybe I'm bashful.  The fabulous Emily Evans Eerdmans came and visited me and then went so far as to write about me and my flowers.  I am over the moon to have caught her eye.  You can read what she said here, and perhaps catch a touch of Eerdmans fever as I did ages ago- I was especially drawn in with her description of a mad cabinet-secretaire in cork, pictured below.  The visit may have been a harbinger of some VERY INTERESTING PROJECTS which have cropped up since that we'll try try try to photograph and include here.  It's looking like we'll have an amazing spring.  Thank you, Emily.  I look forward to making you lots of beautiful things.  Here is a virtual bouquet for you for starters.

Enter Eros.

With his huge hammer again Eros knocked me like a blacksmith
and doused me in a wintry ditch.
